Maxine has built the best breakfast destination in Rice Lake over the past 25 years, and her Bissonette family offspring is continuing the tradition, with daughter Debbie coordinating the dining room and grandson Bryan running the kitchen. The omelette was huge, the sausage patties were not greasy, hot coffee was plentiful with a pot left on the table, and our friends' Eggs Benedict was perfectly done. Looking around, every chair was taken at 10:30 on a Saturday morning! I daresay no other Rice Lake restaurant can make that claim. They're only open until 1:30 daily, so plan accordingly. See you at Maxine's someday!

The sausage was burnt, eggs overcooked, English muffin burnt. Maybe it was a bad day for chef. Waitress was very pleasant and friendly .

We stumbled upon this little gem and loved every bite. The breakfast was better than home cooked and the people were so friendly and engaging, Very efficient, very affordable. And Maxine was there behind the cash register-whatta sweet lady! Highly recommend!

We stopped in on a road trip. Breakfast all day so that was the way we all went. Biggest pancakes we have ever had. Trust me one is enough when it is plate sized. Friendly service and very busy place on. Sunday. Everyone enjoyed their food. Recommend it for a stop.

Every time we are in rice lake, Maxine's is our go to breakfast/brunch spot. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Their homemade chili, potato salad (seasonal), and eggs Benedict are family favorites. The service is also delightful, and on many days, you can chat with the darling Maxine herself. Overall, the quality and quantity of food you get for the price at Maxine's puts breakfast spots in Madison to shame.

What a cute little place!! Passed though Rice Lake for a wedding, stopped here for a quick heading out of town breakfast. I pretty much only consume eggs Benedict when eating breakfast out, so they have to be good. These, were quite possibly the best I have had in a long time. The eggs were perfect. Yolk was runny, but the whites were cooked through. Which I have found in my extensive eggs benny research, is hard to do. The English muffins were actually toasted through - which I love. And as I drink my coffee black, I was thoroughly pleased by the pot they left on the table. We got to meet Maxine herself, who walked over and gave us all hugs at the table. She's a doll. I would definitely recommend breakfast here. Worth the trip to a random Wisconsin town.

We had one of the best breakfasts in the area. Even met Maxine. Pecan waffle was amazing! If you are in the area you definitely have to stop here!

What a cute little place for some great food and great service! Maxine herself is a doll and so sweet! We had a fantastic breakfast and don't worry about it being cash only...there's an ATM inside! Loved it!

Had a lay over to pickup a load. Decided to walk and find something to eat. Got here just before closing on Sat. Ordered the liver and onions. Came out great. Hot and cooked just right. Large portion and less then $9.

Good French toast on real French bread. Great hash browns. No need to order them crispy, they come that way! I like the eggs benny. Hollandaise sauce is good. Hot beef pretty tasty too. I like to sit at the bar and talk with the old timers.

Never had a bad meal! Good and friendly service. Needs better seating.

How can you come to Rice Lake and not go to Maxines! Local, simple diner food. I had a Rueben for lunch, simple egg & bacon for breakfast on my last day ! No smoking in here.

Best Rubin in town. The staff was super friendly. Felt like we were greeted before the front door had a chance to fully open. This is a great family restaurant, that is actually owed, run and staffed by family. Be sure to stop in and try MAXINE'S.

I want this place to be good, because Rice Lake could really use a diner. It is not, however. I've given it 3 separate chances and each time I've been disappointed. Bad coffee, gross bacon, and gray, pasty potato pancakes. I am not a fan.

So-so food. Worst thing is that they're cash only -- no plastic accepted. Service good & friendly. Yes, was smoky at one time but I think smoking is now banned in all Wisconsin restaurants.

Good food. clean place. fast service friendly and accomodating hostess/waitress. affordable. customers are mostly oldies.. bad thing is: no smoking area. the whole place is full of cigar smoke. can't breathe /eat sometime.
